We respect the hard work you have put into your book, and believe that you deserve to get a product you can be really proud of. We will work with you to get your book into print and our years of book manufacturing experience will show in the way we treat you and your project. Whether you are looking for a traditional approach or cutting-edge design, we want YOU to be in charge. We will suggest ideas, and tell you if we think something won’t work, but this is your project, not ours.

The custom Design and Layout Service which generally costs around £499 includes:

Your Word document will be professionally laid out

We will take your Microsoft Word or Publisher document and make it look great whilst ensuring that you have complete control over the look and feel of your book. Whatever category your book belongs in: novel, self-help, autobiography, children’s, business or cookbook it deserves to look the best.

You will have an initial consultation with our in-house graphic designer to establish the general the look of the book - this can in person at our factory or over the 'phone whichever you prefer. He will be happy to advise on appropriate fonts and a suggested layout or follow your brief if you have already decided exactly how you would like your book to look.

The professional typesetting and layout of your book under Word to Book includes:

• Creation of the title page
• Creation of the copyright page
• Layout of up to 400 pages of text with running heads and folios (page headings and numbers respectively)*
• PDF proof file or laser print out for you to have one final check through prior to us sending the file to print. Please note that we do not offer a proof reading service but we will run a spell check through your document.
• Converting your text files into a high resolution print ready PDF
• Setting up your text files on our digital archive system so that they are ready to retrieve when your book reprints (there are no annual storage charges once this is done)

* The maximum number of pages available under Author's Choice is 800 but there will an additional typesetting charge for books with between 400 and 800 pages.

A book really is judged by its cover and we will create a bespoke cover that reflects your vision for the book:

The cover design element of Word to Book which costs around £334.50* includes:

• A consultation with our in-house graphic designer either in person at our factory (if practical for you) or over the 'phone to discuss the book cover design elements
• Scanning (if necessary) of an image supplied by you for the cover
• Choice of any photo at www.istockphoto.co.uk for use on the cover
• Creation of a barcode (if required)
• Basic image manipulation (i.e. combine two images and adjust colors)
• Up to two original cover designs to choose from sent to you as PDFs
• Up to two rounds of corrections
• Converting your cover files into a high resolution print ready PDF
• Finished design sent to you as a PDF for approval prior to us sending files to print
• Setting up your cover file on our digital archive system so that it is ready to retrieve when your book reprints (there are no annual storage charges once this is done)

* This should be the maximum amount that you will pay. If you have already laid out your own design in Microsoft Word or Publisher and can supply us with good enough quality images (separately from the Word or Publisher file) then the cost should be considerably less.

You control the distribution

All the books that we print belong to you. You are the publisher and we can deliver all the books to your home or office for you to distribute as you wish or they can be stored by us under the Biddles Direct service (see below). Please note that although we are happy to enclose an invoice that you have sent us with an order you wil be responsible for collecting the money for that order from your customer.

Biddles Direct

Biddles Direct is our store, pack and post service for Author's Choice customers. We will store up to a maximum of 500 books for up to 12 months charged as follows:
